On TikTok, the so-called "contrast makeup" theory sparks high interest from beauty lovers with how it can drastically change one's face by applying its principles.
This theory originated from Aliénor, a French beauty content creator. On social media, she started uploading videos that talked about how to create a signature look by following one's contrast level.
She categorized a person's contrast into low, medium, and high levels.

Those with low contrast, like Taylor Swift, have more harmony in their face. This is characterized by having "less harsh" features and "softer." People under this level require light makeup to maintain this balance.
If someone looks harsher and draws attention to bright or dark parts in the grayscale, they have medium contrast, like Emma Watson. The makeup artist advised women under this level to unify their outfits and makeup, adding "intensities" to some parts that needed to be highlighted.
Lastly, those with high contrast, like Anne Hathaway, refer to having high differences in the value of the hair, eyes, eyebrows, etc. Since these darker parts draw more attention to the brighter parts of the face, it can look very harsh.
To make it better, beauty lovers with high contrast should have looks like "smokey makeup" and wear darker lipsticks.People can refer to Italian or French makeup looks to achieve this.
